Ever since I worked as an apprentice in a bank some 28 years ago, I have taken every opportunity to accumulate new experiences within the banking sector. In that time, I have worked in both management consulting and software development, focusing on financial products and services. This combination has helped me gain a very good understanding of the operations of private banks – from the front to the back office.

I’ve been working in IT for 24 years and some of my favourite projects have included developing and implementing software packages for private and commercial banks in the area of risk management and portfolio management, as well as conducting a business analysis for the Euro transition and Y2K migration.

For the last nine years, I’ve specialised in Avaloq implementation, with a particular focus on stock exchange, derivatives, foreign exchange, money market, book and balance engines, and legal reporting. I particularly like learning from others and passing on my own experience, so I’ve enjoyed coaching IT staff in Avaloq business inquiries and leading workshops in the design of static data models.

What I really enjoy about Orbium is the diversity of our work. Every project has its own setup and rules – which means I am continually learning more and deepening my experience. I get to work on a whole range of projects in different locations, over different time periods and with different teams. Working in a team is extremely important to me, as I need that contact with people. And, while my work is very fulfilling, I always manage to keep a balance with my family life and my sporting activities!
