The banking industry is a world of constant change. Regulatory requirements, business needs and end customer expectations are in a constant state of flux. One of the major strengths of the Avaloq Banking System is its flexible, powerful kernel – which can easily be adapted to new functionalities and modules.
The depth and breadth of our Avaloq experience mean we have a unique and extended expertise of all the different Avaloq releases – and we’re always involved in the first implementations of each new release. That means we get to know about the specificities of each release first-hand – and our customers get the benefit.
Our activities during a new release of Avaloq Banking System can be summarised in five major phases:
- Project Set-up
- Analysis & Release Installation
- Parameterisation Update
- Testing
- Cut-over & Stabilisation
Orbium’s flexible project methodology can easily be adapted to manage the change of focus associated with the deployment of a new release to an existing Avaloq Banking System environment.
There is little change in the Project Set-up phase, which focuses on the basic foundations that are vital to any project. However, during the Analysis & Release Installation phase, we focus on helping our clients to understand the technical and functional areas that are impacted by a new release. The priority is to ensure that existing business processes continue uninterrupted and new functionalities are introduced seamlessly. By working closely with our clients to install the release in a parallel environment, we can analyse and demonstrate the impacted areas and new functionalities – and thus plan ahead to ensure a seamless migration.
The parameterisation associated with a new release should be seen as an update to the existing environment. This phase focuses on the change areas identified during the Analysis & Release Installation phase as well as any desired enhancements or new functionalities. Moving on to the Testing phase, we help our clients define the most appropriate strategy, providing training and workshops on new functionalities to both technical and business teams, and testing of the new release.
Client satisfaction and support remain a priority following the release. During the Cut-over & Stabilisation phase, we provide the necessary support to ensure complete handover and proper project closure.
